“Comfort food and hands in the earth is where this new iso family has found the most solace. We come together to cook and garden on a daily basis. Despite wanting to be more active in the studio, it’s these things for which we were once time-poor are now a source of simple pleasure, growing memories for years to come. Along with the essential early-morning drive to the dog beach once a week, winding through the hills past the many honesty boxes, we collect seedlings, manure and other people’s home-grown tucker. Planting the seeds in suburban backyards, slowing down to appreciate the more important things are the yarns that circulate the dinner table as we look to a more sustainable future in the arts and our communities.”
